LinxTracker calculates a Round Index. The Round Index is your actual scoring ability. It calculates all of your most recent 20 rounds using a similar formula to the USGA Handicap formula. LinxTracker’s Round Index is much more useful and realistic than a USGA handicap in determining your true performance.

If you have a USGA Handicap, it is an estimation of your potential scoring ability. It is primarily used to equal the playing field of golfers of different abilities. In short, it calculates only your 10 best scores of your last 20 rounds disregarding those rounds where you didn’t play so well.

Think of this. In a PGA tournament, do they only count a player’s 2 best of the 4 rounds played? Of course not, they count all 4 rounds in determining the total score and the winner. Approach your game the same way, every shot and every round counts!

What is the PAR Golf Skills Test?

The PAR is a golf skills test that establishes your PAR Index (handicap) for each golf skill: putting, chipping, pitching, bunker shots, driving, 100 yard approach shots, and 150 yard approach shots. You may have a handicap of 11.8 overall, but what is it for chipping? Driving? Putting? Bunker shots? Use the P.A.R. and quickly find out.

Developed for the PGA of America, the PAR is a series of standardized test shots, taken at the practice range, that recreate game scenarios.
